Our School Art Auction

My school hosts an annual art auction where each classroom must provide at least one donation to be auctioned off. It must be a class effort and go along with the theme of the year.

This year our theme was "A World of Color"

I started searching and looking around to get ideas for my class. I turned to Pinterest and these were the inspirations for our two class projects:

A parent of an older child in our school helps clean our school each day. We've become friends over this school year and talk each day when she comes into my classroom. She is an artist and was ecstatic when I asked her to take charge and help my class create our projects!

I was able to get all of the needed supplies donated from parents, which was amazing!

First we did the Las Vegas skyline. The mom helping us took the canvas home and painted the sky then came in and helped us with the buildings. Here are some pictures:

After all the buildings were covered with newspaper, my volunteer took everything home and brought back the finished product:

It turned out so well!
She added the perfect finishing touches on it and it ended up selling for $100!

The kids had a lot of fun with the second project! The mom came and gave my class a lesson on finger painting. We gave each scholar two small pieces of foam poster board. They were then able to finger paint them however they wanted.

After they all dried I brought them home, traced ocean animals onto them and my husband was sweet enough to help me cut them all out!

I then passed them all onto my volunteer, along with all of the donated supplies. She took them home, put everything together and this is how it turned out!

I LOVE IT! It turned out SO cute!

This was also purchased at the auction for $100!

Does your school ever host an art auction? What art projects does your class do for it?
