She is seriously adorable! I love reading her blog and all the amazing ideas she has. If you're not following her blog yet then click on the cute button above to follow her! Trust me, you don't want to pass it up!
Laura is a mother, wife & teacher who loves helping kids forget that they are learning by having fun!
Have you ever wondered how Laura came up with her blog/store name? Well, she is very passionate about differentiation and believes that it is important to make it easier for teachers to achieve this...That's why she has so many wonderful differentiated products in her store!
Just like everyone else did with their partner, I got to choose one product of my choice from Laura's TPT store to share with you today. She has so many fun games and activities in her store, it was a hard choice!!
Hi. My name is Melissa and I'm a play dough addict.
I'm seriously a sucker for all things play dough! So when I came across Laura's Interactive Play Dough Mats I could not pass up her Pirates pack!
This is such a great hands-on approach to math and, let's be honest, what student doesn't LOVE squeezing and playing with play dough!? (AND we can't forget about all of the fine motor benefits of it too!)
This is seriously jam packed with so many amazing resources! There are a lot of different ways it can be used too, which is what I love about it!
Laura has included different mats to print out (b&w are also included, which is a definite bonus!)
Students can choose a number cards up to 20 and make the corresponding number in pirate coins for the treasure chest by using play dough. (Of course we used yellow play dough!)
10-frame cards are also included up to 20. I found these adorable PINK coins at Dollar Tree that definitely add to the fun of this pack! I searched all over their "party section" and could NOT find any other colors! That store can definitely be hit and miss.
Laura has also included addition cards. I love the hands on approach this allows students to have while practicing number sentences! Amazing for all your kinesthetic learners!
There are individual mats to allow students to make play dough numbers (you could always use a dry erase marker to draw/color the number). What little kid doesn't love making "snakes" with play dough!? They just can't get enough.
After making the number, you could also use these adorable pirate cards that are included, or any other manipulative you have on hand, for one-to-one correspondence practice.
That's not even all. Laura has included 6 fabulous extension activities to go along with the mats! Students will count the number of pirates and coins then write the number, read the numeral and draw that number of pirates, trace numbers and write answers to addition sentences.
Thank you so much for stopping by. I hope that you have fallen in love with Laura's play dough mats like I have!
